Charities
Working to generate more than shareholder value
By using company donations to charities as an incentive for investors' participation in surveys, DuplexIR is a way that the investment community can be of wider social benefit.
As an incentive to participate investors can be offered a number of charities to which companies may donate. The charities are selected by companies in line with their own internal charity fund raising activities or donations. DuplexIR handles the administration of donations to charities in the UK and beyond, subject to certain criteria being met.
The individual sums involved are not vast but we hope that, in time, DuplexIR can help generate significant funds for deserving causes.
We conclude that the quality – and not the amount – of engagement by shareholders determines whether the influence of equity markets on corporate decisions is beneficial or damaging to the long-term interests of companies. And we conclude that public equity markets currently encourage exit (the sale of shares) over voice (the exchange of views with the company) as a means of engagement, replacing the concerned investor with the anonymous trader.
