Real two way communication between investors and companies
DuplexIR combines decades of buy and sell side and communications training experience. Over the years we have been disappointed and frustrated by the way that the way that investors and listed companies communicate, primarily with regard to investor feedback. Too much attention is paid to getting the information out to investors and not enough to developing understanding and relationships.
We believe that modern investor relations is about communication - two way communication or, in technical language, duplex communication.
Having seen the value being destroyed by traditional mechanisms, we set about applying technology to address the problem. We soon realised that the commonly available technologies did not have the combination of security, service, flexibility or potential anonymity that an investor relations focused solution should provide.
So we built the DuplexIR system to work in a way that works that is focused on the needs and natures of investor relations officers, company secretaries, listed company directors and investors.
We conclude that the quality – and not the amount – of engagement by shareholders determines whether the influence of equity markets on corporate decisions is beneficial or damaging to the long-term interests of companies. And we conclude that public equity markets currently encourage exit (the sale of shares) over voice (the exchange of views with the company) as a means of engagement, replacing the concerned investor with the anonymous trader.
